Carbon Footprint and ESG Reporting: Quick Solution for MSME

 Introduction

This course provides an introduction to the fundamentals of carbon footprint and emissions management, including the impact of greenhouse gases and the differences between Carbon Neutrality and Net Zero. Participants will be introduced to key organisations and frameworks that drive global carbon protocols, as well as the categorisation of Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions.

The session also introduces practical standards, tools, and reporting approaches to support MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) in tracking emissions and simplifying ESG reporting processes. Participants will learn how to identify major emission sources within their organisations by applying real business expenditure data and operational practices.

In addition, the course explores practical carbon reduction strategies by linking organisational spending with emission impacts, while promoting sustainable business practices aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Learning Outcomes:

1) Evaluate and categorise company’s expenditure based on the United Nations’ Scope 1 - 2 - 3 emission structure.
2) Recognise key information to be included into an ESG report according to Malaysian and global standards.
3) Prepare practical strategies to achieve energy efficiency & Net Zero goals, including carbon offset purchasing and global emissions benchmarking.
