Institut Sultan Iskandar, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM-ISI) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Johor Sustainability Centre (JSC) to establish a strategic framework for collaboration in professional training, capacity building, research, and sustainability initiatives. Signed on Thursday, 8 October 2026 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre during International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition and Conference Malaysia (IGEM), the agreement marks a joint commitment to advance sustainable development, climate resilience, and knowledge transfer in Johor and across Malaysia.
UTM-ISI, an independent research and development institution operating under Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, provides HRD Corp-accredited training programs, research, certification, and technical event management. JSC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Permodalan Darul Ta’zim Sdn Bhd (PDT), functions as a strategic initiative center dedicated to driving climate action and sustainable development across Johor. Together, the two entities will combine their respective technical and strategic capabilities to develop innovative business models and high-impact sustainability projects.
Under the framework of the MoU, the collaboration focuses on five key pillars: delivering competency-based training and capacity building for government officers, industry practitioners, and the Johor community; establishing certification pathways to validate sustainable business models; conducting joint research, consultancy, and state-specific application guidelines; executing high-impact quick-win projects for immediate tangible outcomes; and coordinating joint promotional campaigns to enhance the visibility of sustainability initiatives across the region.
The partnership between UTM-ISI and JSC reflects a shared vision to foster local expertise, optimize resource utilization, and accelerate Malaysia’s broader transition toward carbon neutrality and environmental resilience.
