Institut Sultan Iskandar (UTM-ISI), functioning as an independent, non-profit research and development entity under Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, established a significant international collaboration through the execution of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Communication University of China (CUC) and its affiliate, CUC Brand Glocal Research Centre Sdn. Bhd. This five-year agreement is strategically designed to bolster, promote, and expand cooperation across key domains including research, technical assistance, continuing education, and community services.
The official signing ceremony for this MoU transpired at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, marking a pivotal juncture for both participating institutions. Assoc. Prof. Sr Dr. Abdullah Hisam Bin Omar, Executive Director of Institut Sultan Iskandar, formally executed the agreement on behalf of UTM-ISI, while Mr. Liu Dingjian, Director, represented Communication University of China.
These initiatives are projected to substantially aid Chinese students pursuing higher education or professional development in Malaysia or other institutions. Furthermore, both entities will jointly develop and deliver specialized short-term academic and professional training programs encompassing mutually relevant subjects, such as language proficiency, cross-cultural communication, media studies, and sustainable development.
Assoc. Prof. Sr Dr. Abdullah Hisam Bin Omar articulated, “This Memorandum of Understanding unequivocally signifies a shared institutional vision for advancing educational excellence and cultivating deeper cross-cultural understanding. Through this collaboration with Communication University of China, we are not only extending our academic and research horizons but also actively cultivating invaluable opportunities for students and professionals to augment their capabilities and engage with pertinent global standards.”
Mr. Liu Dingjian further elaborated, “We anticipate significant potential from this partnership with Institut Sultan Iskandar. By synergistically leveraging our respective strengths in media and technology with UTM-ISI’s established research capabilities, we are poised to develop innovative programs and initiatives that will yield substantial benefits for both our academic communities and contribute meaningfully to the broader landscape of international education cooperation.”
