Sustainability at Institut Sultan Iskandar
Efforts toward Sustainable Development revolves around the fulfilment of needs – from the present to the future (Brundtland 1987). As an organization built on the foundations of urban planning, design, research, project consultancy, and capacity building, ISI’s principle in its project and activities undertakings includes significant considerations of the wider context of sustainable development. As we embark on the present and future fulfilment of sustainable development aspirations, we strive to deliver to the best of our abilities the application of sustainability through our project management, design and planning, as well as knowledge transfer and capacity building programs.
The 17 Sustainable Development Goals encompassing the 5 pillars of People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace, and Partnership (UN 2015) indicates the need for a holistic approach of addressing present and future needs. The road to Sustainable Development is paved from knowledge to practice and beyond. These perspectives shape part of ISI’s worldview on our contribution towards Sustainable Development.
Our commitment to sustainability will be translated into future nation-building projects and programs, by harnessing the right talent, expertise, and resources to raise awareness, educate stakeholders and the general public, as well as introduce more practical sustainable development implementation measures. Sustainability in practice is wide-ranged in its application and diverse in its form, and at ISI we see it as an open door to a world of possibilities.
